The strengthening of the transport infrastructure between the cities of Rabat and Salé is an important pillar of the ambitious program of the second phase of Bouregreg project. It is part of the partnership agreement signed with the ministries of the Interior, and the Region of Rabat-Salé-Zemmour Zaers (RSZZ), the Wilaya of RSZZ, Salé Prefecture, the Urban Community of Rabat and Salé.
Urban Ring Road No. 2
Launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI May 11, 2015, the planned construction of urban ring road # 2 answers the problems of mobility and travel between the cities of Rabat and Salé, mainly due to the saturation of several central crossroads at the two centers.
The realization of the urban ring road No 2 is crucial for the decongestion of traffic flows between Rabat and Salé and is high on the recommendations of experts in charge of urban transport plan for the conurbation of the region of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra.
The said project is also part of the development strategy of future urban parts of the sequence 3 of the development of the Bouregreg valley;
Technical characteristics
• A urban enlightened boulevard lights, planted and cleaned extending Avenue Tadla Rabat passing in a hopper under Mohamed VI Avenue to the N6 road (called Route de Meknes) in Sale of Approximately 8 km long;
• Total width of the road: 24 m;
• Consistency: 2x 3-way
Artwork :
• A hopper for a lower passage at the intersection of Avenue Mohamed VI in Rabat;
• A restoration overpass for the traffic at the intersection of
Route EZZERBIA Salé including passage for future Tramway (ongoing extension studies);
• A viaduct on Bouregreg river 190 m;

• And green spaces and trees along the entire length of the track of the ring road.
The expected traffic
The expected traffic on the ring road is about 30 000 vehicles per day in both directions which would have about 28% of all traffic passing between the two cities Rabat and Salé.

A hopper under the ONCF rail bridge
As a part of the development of sequences 2 and 3, the Agency for the Development of the Bouregreg Valley plans to build a hopper under the railway and under its connection routes to the RN6 and the future urban ring road n ° 2. The hopper construction project to create under the railway ONCF is a part of strengthening the diagram of the Bouregreg valley and is thus a feature of additional union between sequences 2 and 3.
As such, it will contribute fully to the distribution of traffic flows passing between the blocks 2 and 3 and is therefore a major work for the future Salé Parkway.
The project technic features :
• A Linear under ongoing studies : 1.4 km due to the realignment of the urban ring road 2;
• Cross Consistency: approximately 24 m = 2x 2-way (7m) + 2 bicycle lanes (2 x 1.25m) + 2 walkways (2 × 2 m) + 1 TPC (2m);
• Road Template : 4,85m to 5,10m
• Passage Project under the railway and in compressible soils in areas requiring treatment;
• Circulation Constraint of sustained traffic of trains;
• networks deviation Necessity;
The basic components of this project consist of:
• The construction of the hopper under the section of the track just after the railway bridge on the Bouregreg river side of Salé;
• Achieving the sidings of this hopper to the RN6 and to the future ring road No 2 and in accordance with the special renewal plan for the Bouregreg valley;
• The realization of the various networks and their connections to the existing networks.
The completion of work is planned for 2016 with an overall completion time of 24 months work.

Sale Parkway
The parkway construction project is part of the development strategy of future urban parts of sequences 3 and 4 of the development of the Bouregreg valley.
It will contribute to the distribution of traffic flows passing between the cities of Rabat and Salé, connecting the crossings of the Bouregreg River.
This is an enlightened future urban boulevard, planted with green space and cleaned along 7 km with a grip ranging from 30m to 40m, with 4 exchangers and hydraulic connections discharge structures at sequence 3.
Renewal and servicing works of the right shore districts (the 1st sequence)
The development project of districts 6 and 7 consists of the realization of the work of roadways and various primary networks (VRD) of batches and remaining districts to develop at the right bank of sequence I of the renewal of the Bouregreg valley.
The work includes the completion of primary roads, sanitation, drinking water, irrigation, electricity and telephone, as well as works associated with them.
Maintenance and reinforcement of RP 4008
The Main Road (RP) 4008 between the intersection of the city of potters and the crossroads of Sala Al Jadida is a road known by a heavy traffic and is one of the most important travel routes for heavy vehicles which want to take the current urban ring road.
The aggressiveness of the growing traffic and the repeated flooding due to spills of rainwater on Kariat Ouled Moussa neighborhoods and Hay Moulay Ismail to the Bouregreg River, made the floor and the roadsides of PR 4008 in a degraded state.
The side ditches are blocked on a large linear and outfalls to Bouregreg river are clogged with makeshift levees that landowners have constructed to protect their fields against flooding.
The maintenance of this road focus on strengthening the roadway and the roadsides as well as a protection against flooding by ensuring a flow of rainwater in lateral ditches to connect the outlets in the Bouregreg River.
The works include:
• Earthworks;
• Construction works of drainage ditches and sewerage stormwater;
• Ducts carrying work in roadways for various networks;
• Cleaning work of existing hydraulic structures and open ditches;
• Works of realization of basic layers of foundation and pavement of roads;
• Construction works coating roads;
• Construction works of the horizontal and vertical signs;
• Supply, transport and installation of information and communications boards;
• Supply, transport and installation of guardrail
The maintenance and strengthening of the RP4008 were made by the company CAMPEZO. Value of contract relating thereto is 12.2 million dirhams. The period of works was 6 months.
Maintenance and reinforcement of RP 4027
The main Road section of 4027, from the intersection of Sala Al Jadida until Akreuch bridge, knows several disorders, the main are as follows:
• Water stagnation because of the absence and / or clogging of side ditches, and discharges of storm water into the river;
• Deterioration of the coating of the bilayer due to the important traffic of heavy vehicle (dump trucks transiting to landfills) and due to the stagnation of rainwater;
• Crossings absence at the access for local residents;
• Encroachment of local residents on the way.
• The maintenance of this road focuses on strengthening the pavement and the roadsides as well as the protection against flooding by ensuring a flow of rainwater in lateral ditches to connect the outlets in Bouregreg River.
The work includes:
• Earthworks;
• Rainwater routing to the river, by reopening clogged chaabas by agriculture, and the construction of drainage pipes.
• Ducts carrying work in roadways for various networks;
• Cleaning work of existing hydraulic structures and open ditches;
• Works of realization of basic layers of foundation and pavement of roads.
• Construction works for coating the roads;
• Construction works of the horizontal and vertical signs;
• Supply, transport and installation of information and communication panels.
The maintenance and strengthening of RP4027 has been made by the RTG company.
The value of contract relating thereto is 13.6 million dirhams. The period of works was 6 months. The pictures below illustrate the completion.
